About the role

We have an exciting and rewarding support opportunity to share with you, located in Bunbury, this role involves supporting a non-verbal gentleman in his early 30s with a Hypoxic Brain Injury. The client has a non-ventilated tracheostomy requiring stoma care and has diabetes requiring BGL monitoring and insulin administration. He needs full assistance with all activities of daily living, safe transfers, and mealtime management. We are seeking multiple staff to cover AM, PM and active night shifts.

Your key responsibilities

Our team is looking for a dedicated and passionate Disability Support Worker who can undertake the following key responsibilities:

  • Tracheostomy management
  • Diabetes management
  • Insulin administration
  • Transfers
  • Personal Care
  • Communication support
  • Mealtime support
  • Incontinence support
  • Medication Administration
  • Community Engagement and Social Support
  • Domestic Assistance
  • Allied Health led programs

About you

To join the team, we are looking for the following skills and experience.

  • Tracheostomy Competency desirable
  • Diabetes management highly desirable
  • Preferred clinical and high care experience
  • Dysphagia experience highly desirable
  • Insulin administration highly desirable

Essential

  • Previous disability experience (minimum 2 years)
  • Manual handling experience (essential)
  • Personal care experience
  • Current First aid and CPR
  • NDIS Worker Screening Card
  • NDIS Orientation Module Quality Safety and You' (or willing to obtain)
  • Manual handling certificate (or willing to obtain at your own cost)
  • Medication certificate (or willing to obtain at your own cost)
  • Valid WA driver's licence and reliable, insured vehicle
