The role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an Estimator with strong commercial acumen, analytical capability, and the right cultural fit to join their Melbourne-based team. This is a critical role supporting the national bid and business development function, helping shape the pricing, planning, and delivery of some of the largest and most complex facility service contracts in Australia - ranging from $5 million to over $100 million in annual contract value.

The Estimator will work closely with operations, finance, and business development teams to build robust cost models and pricing submissions that support the company's growth across aviation, education, government, healthcare, and defence sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate and commercially competitive cost estimates for large-scale tenders and contract renewals.
  • Lead rostering and resource modelling to ensure efficient service delivery and labour allocation.
  • Analyse client specifications and tender documentation to identify scope, risks, and cost drivers.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Operations, Finance, Commercial, and Bid Teams) to align pricing models with operational delivery capability.
  • Support the Head of Contract Optimisation & Estimation with bid strategy, scenario planning, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Provide detailed cost breakdowns, assumptions, and financial summaries for executive and client presentations.
  • Maintain up-to-date cost databases and benchmark data to ensure the company remains competitive in market pricing.
  • Participate in post-tender reviews and lessons-learned sessions to drive continuous improvement.

About You:
We are looking for a results-driven, detail-oriented professional who combines technical pricing expertise with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing commercial insight with a practical understanding of operational delivery.


Ideally you will have:

  • 10+ years' experience in estimating, pricing, or bid management within the soft services or facilities management industry.
  • Proven success preparing tenders for large-scale contracts ($5M-$100M+) across sectors such as aviation, healthcare, education, and defence.
  • Demonstrated expertise in rostering and workforce modelling.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, service scopes, and contractual requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, team-focused mindset aligned with company's values of care, quality, and responsibility.
